A landlocked country located between latitude 19o and 27o south and longitude 54o and 72o west of Greenwich. The Tropic of Capricorn crosses the country, which has a total area of 406,752 km2, the Paraguay River divides the country into two regions:

Western Paraguay, also known as "El Chaco", a vast flatland with its savannas and natural ponds surrounded by forests and thorny scrub vegetation. And Eastern Paraguay, with a completely different topography of tropical and semitropical forests, interrupted by natural grasslands and small hills.

Geographic Location – An exotic destination, of which little is known, in the heart of South America, makes it easier to include it in tourism circuits with the countries in the region. Its capital, Asunción, is located just a short trip by plane from Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Santiago de Chile, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, and Foz do Iguassu
Customs, Cuisine, Handicrafts, and Folklore – Paraguayans maintain their traditions intact; they have their own Guarani language, and rooted customs such as tereré (a cold drink made with yerba mate). Its cuisine is based mainly on beef and pork, with the famous asado (barbecue) that is accompanied with mandioca (or yucca) and other traditional dishes. Handicrafts are very varied, with leather and ceramic items, “ñanduti” fabric (fine handmade lace) and the fine gold and silver filigree jewels. Paraguayan Folk music is known throughout the world, mainly for its romantic "guaranias", performed on the Paraguayan harp, and among its dances, the "bottle dance", where the dancer loads 12 bottles on their head, stands out.

WHEN TO VISIT

Paraguay can be visited throughout the year, due to its subtropical climate. Although the ideal season to visit it is from March to November, where nature tourism reaches the best levels, avoiding the summer months, where temperatures can become very hot.
